In this episode, we speak with acclaimed R&B singer-songwriter known for her infusing every performance with soul, swagger, and profound emotion which she definitely brought to this episode. We had an amazing discussion about her career as a singer-songwriter and coming from a musical family Lisa has really profound insights on songwriting and the business side of music and shares some of her personal experiences with us as well as a great story about one of her songs. She also gave a heartfelt performance of 3 of her songs accompanied by the talented local guitarist Chris Hanford.

Songs of Inspiration Episode 5: Rachel Sumner

In this episode of Songs of Inspiration, we talk to Rachel Sumner, an award-winning singer-songwriter. I first heard Rachel play a house show hosted by our mutual friend Sasha Letovsky's music events company Worlds End Sessions. I was captivated by Rachel's performance at this show and the depth and meaning behind each of her songs. I am grateful to have her on the podcast and for our great conversation. In this episode, we talk about how she went from a classical flutist to a singer-songwriter, her creative process, and some of the stories behind her songs. She also gave an excellent heartfelt performance. Also, I want to highlight the fantastic work Worlds End Sessions is doing for local musicians. They are a local organization that hosts pop-up shows all over Boston that promote inclusivity and accessibility for all.
